OUR MINISTRIES
We’re a sisterhood acting in faith to tackle the hard work of the world without hesitation.Driven by God’s love and united in sisterhood, we work to improve the lives of women, children and youth. Every day, we show up. We take action. We get it done. And we invite you to join us.
Perhaps our biggest endeavor is our twice-annual Rummage Sale, the proceeds of which all go to support ministries and charities that work with women and children. All year we collect, sort, and price donated items which are then sold in our sales, held the last Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of February and October. For details of the next sale, click on Rummage Sale.
Our UWF, in addition to holding the twice-annual Rummage Sale, hold regular meetings fall through spring, and collect for missions such supplies for school nurses each fall, and Save the Family each Christmas.
Our reading program keeps our members well informed on important issues and how we are called as Christians to be involved in our community and our world. Mission U, held every summer in the Desert Southwest Annual Conference, is also an important source of information and wisdom.
But we are not just about justice work, we also gather monthly for the Out to Lunch Bunch.
See the Newsletter for current details of our meetings and events. All women are welcome.

At Velda Rose UMC, all men are invited to join with the UMM on the first Monday of each month at 11:30 am for our regular meeting. Our UMM collect and recycle aluminum cans and other metals, the proceeds of which are used to fund ministry, including providing fresh vegetables once a month to families in need. We host social events such as Ice Cream Socials through the summer and provide the breakfast and lunch during the Rummage Sale.
The General Commission on United Methodist Men (UMMen) involves men in a growing relationship to Jesus Christ and his church and provides resources and support for programs of evangelism, stewardship and the needs of men. United Methodist Men leads the church’s scouting ministry (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Campfire), encourages participation in several programs serving at-risk youth and advocates for and supports men seeking to prevent domestic violence.

Samaritan Fund
The Velda Rose Samaritan Fund is available to provide limited emergency assistance to our neighbors in need. To request assistance, come to the church office during business hours (Mon-Thur 9-12) and fill out a Financial Assistance Form. To request assistance, you will need photo identification. What other documentation will be necessary will depend on the assistance requested. Each request will be evaluated to determine if we can help, and will depend on whether there are funds available. We also attempt to connect people with other resources that may be of more assistance.

Green Team
God looked over everything he had made;
it was so good, so very good!
It was evening, it was morning--
Day Six.
Genesis 1:31 (The Message)
God created a marvelous world for us and we are called to be good stewards of this world. Our Green Team works to educate and help us be better stewards of our natural resources. With celebrations for Earth Day and the Season of Creation, we seek to understand the role we can play in helping to preserve the gift of creation that God has given us. If you would like to be part of our Green Team, contact the church office and we will connect you. To get tips on Creation Justice and sustainability, click HERE.
